This video of strangers being asked to kiss each other for the first time went viral this week. It’s being hailed as “something kind of incredible”. I find it to be something kind of disgusting. My theory of kissing is this:
- Kissing is something really special, emotional, and intimate.
- A kiss is a means of expressing physically and strengthening an emotional bond between two people.
- You should only kiss someone whom you are really in love with and whom you know well.
To waste a kiss on a stranger seems awful to me. It is circumventing the purpose of a true and beautiful kiss, which must express a love that already exists. It’s like sex outside of a committed relationship.
I consider kissing to be such a private and intimate expression that I almost cannot believe that people would do so in public. Why would you want to share it with strangers and bystanders? This is why I hate PDA (public displays of affection). It seems to me these couples who engage in PDA are not showing their love, they are showing off their love.
TLDR: Kissing is special, so stop kissing people you are not madly in love with, and don’t do it to show off.

Hey
So about PDA as a general rule I don’t like to see it either however I don’t think that people do it to show off. Sometimes I find myself being very affectionate towards my fiance in public just because I am lost in a bubble with him and I have become oblivious to the fact that others may be watching.
